Hi there, we are Sarah and George, owners and crafts-team behind Sage Boardworks.
We've both spent most of our careers in the medical and construction fields, respectively. But last year, when everything was cancelled, closed and quiet, we decided to pursue a long-standing passion of ours: woodworking. Years in both of our professional careers cultivated between the two of us an eye for design, an appreciation of quality, and a love for small businesses where products are handcrafted thoughtfully, and purposefully. George had always had an interest in woodworking, and Sarah loves to cook and bake, which made exploring the world of creating handmade, high quality cutting boards a great place to start. With that excitement, we turned our 2-car garage into an amazing woodworking shop.
Amidst the sawdust, loud machines, and hours of quality time spent together, we finally crafted our first batch of beautiful and unique cutting boards. We happily gifted them to our wonderful family and friends and word spread fast. We got so excited, we decided to officially launch Sage Boardworks in March 2021.
Sage Boardworks’ inception included a lot of support from our wonderful and loving family. Our sincere and heartfelt thank you to the following:
Our cousin, Amy Joy who listened and helped us coin our company name and brand; our youngest daughter, Maria who designed our company logo you see stamped on your board; George’s youngest sister, Tatiana who assisted and designed the framework of our website.; our two other daughters, Victoria and Alexandra who keep us on-point with our social media postings; our niece Eva who helped edit our images; our parents who provide us their constant support and check on us daily; and lastly, to all our siblings and friends who gave us their thoughtful insight about our products before our official launch.
Our mission is simple: to exceed our customers' expectations and create products that you will cherish and use for years. We pride ourselves to the quality of our custom, sustainable, and handcrafted boards; no detail is overlooked. Our hope is for our customers to enjoy and love their cutting boards as much as we enjoyed and loved making them.
Thank you for supporting our veteran and Filipina owned small business based in Chesapeake, VA.
